I am almost a 20 year resident of North Carolina, moving to the coast from the Midwest due to my love of the water and almost all water related activities. As a former charter sailboat skipper for the Moorings, Ltd, in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, my wife and I decided to live on the water in the late 1990’s. We could have moved anywhere, but chose Coastal Carolina, and we are still sure we made the right decision.
I have a varied educational and work experience. I graduated from Princeton University with a BA and then University of Kansas School of Law. I began practicing law in the mid 70’s. From there I left for the Caribbean, only to return and spend a decade in commercial real estate. During that time I traveled the country for a national retailer as a VP of Real Estate doing purchases, leases, government and municipal permitting, acquisitions and all facets of commercial real estate.
With over a decade of background in North Carolina coastal real estate, I have listed and sold all manner of coastal property, from swampland (which is called “hunting land” for duck hunters) to major marinas. I work as a team with my wife, Nancy Crain, and we focus on the cities and counties of Beaufort/Carteret County; New Bern/Craven County; and Oriental/Pamlico County. We live in Pamlico County, where Oriental is known as the “Sailing Capitol of NC”, which was a big draw for us.
