Description

Gretchen Sproehnle’s deep-rooted love of Lake Tahoe, Truckee, and the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains began at an early age. She was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and at age 5, her family moved to Incline Village, Nevada, where she attended school from Kindergarten through high school. She was active in many competitive sports including skiing and tennis, and ski raced at the regional and national level through college.
As a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder, Sproehnle has spent virtually all of her life in the mountains. She was drawn back to North Lake Tahoe after college, where she began a career in graphic design and marketing. Shortly after, she and her husband Rob, a lifelong resident of Squaw Valley and another ski racer, married and started their family.
Together with her husband as a builder, Sproehnle is a partner in the couple’s general contracting business, where she has gained years of experience in construction. She leverages this background, as well as her connections in the trades, to offer additional value to her clients.
Her extensive knowledge of the unique neighborhoods and communities of the area, plus her marketing prowess and practical understanding of new home construction and remodeling are an effective blend in connecting buyers and sellers in the Tahoe/Truckee market. She is licensed in both California and Nevada.
Sproehnle is passionate about education and has volunteered countless hours at local schools and is past president of the Tahoe Truckee Excellence in Education Foundation. Her daughters attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and the University of Oregon.
An avid outdoor enthusiast, Sproehnle has sailed extensively on Tahoe and in the Bay Area, has coached skiing and soccer, and enjoys hiking with the family’s four-legged sidekick Goose, as well as skiing, cooking, and curling up with a good crossword puzzle.
Grateful to call Tahoe home, Sproehnle is extremely proud to be part of the Sierra Sotheby's team.

Description

Established in 1864, Tahoe City has a rich heritage dating back to the Gold Rush, when fortune hunters passed through on their way to search for silver in the Comstock Lode. A visit to any one of the museums and historical landmarks managed by the North Lake Tahoe Historical Society provides insights into how this town has evolved from frontier outposts to an appealing enclave of lakefront restaurants, homegrown coffee shops, boutiques and private estates. Tahoe City's Lakefront Commons Beach is the heart of the town and provides acres of room to spread out, relax, hear a concert or peruse the Farmer's Market in summer. At the north end, the park blends into Tahoe State Recreation Area, with right-on-the-lake campsites. The adjacent public pier makes a great place to jump into Lake Tahoe. The centrally located Tahoe City Marina is home to the Tahoe Yacht Club which hosts weekly sailing series and other popular nautical events. Located a little higher up on the mountainside of the town, you'll find the world-class cross-country center Tahoe XC, which is the launching point to an outdoor enthusiast's Never-Never Land. Mountain bikers, hikers and runners can stretch out and experience stellar lake views, while undertaking the challenge presented by the web of trails and singletrack. In the winter, 65 kilometers of groomed cross-country track branch out from the center. Also in the winter, the town hosts Snowfest, North Lake Tahoe's version of Mardi Gras, with parades, live music, and snow play. A mélange of playful year-round activities, boutique shops, acclaimed restaurants and seasonal festivals awaits every visitor and local of the beautiful Tahoe City. Tahoe City is located just minutes from Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Sunnyside and Homewood Resort and connected to these iconic destinations by a paved bike bath that runs along the Truckee River and the shores of Lake Tahoe.
