Description

Armin Allen is a born and bred New Yorker with a keen interest in and knowledge of period architecture, interiors, and the decorative arts. He entered the arena of luxury real estate in 1997, working with his colleague Edward Lee Cave, the founding chairman of Sotheby’s International Realty. Before beginning his real estate career, he served as a museum curator, an antiques dealer, and a department head at Sotheby's Auction House, where he developed long-lasting connections in the art and antiques world.

After more than 20 years as a broker, Armin has extensive knowledge of Manhattan’s best buildings and co-operative boards. Although he sells properties throughout the city, he specializes in the Upper East Side and has negotiated the sale of many spectacular residences there—including a 15-room duplex on 72nd Street, two Carnegie Hill townhouses, and a multitude of large apartments and stylish pied-à-terres in some of the finest buildings in the city. Downtown, he has sold a significant penthouse on Lafayette Street as well as two remarkable townhouses on the Lower East Side. A good listener and skilled negotiator, Armin is known for his candid, straightforward demeanor; his availability; and his total commitment to representing the best interests of his clients.

Armin is the former board chairman of the Preservation Society of Newport County in Rhode Island and currently serves on the board of the Newport Restoration Foundation. For a number of years, he was a board member of the Olana Partnership, supporting Frederic Edwin Church’s estate in Greenport, New York. Armin and his wife, Lynne—an interior decorator with McMillen Inc.—live in the East 70's and in Millbrook.
