Susan Baker joined Sotheby’s International Realty after successful careers first on Wall Street and then in philanthropy. She graduated from Wellesley College with high honors in English literature and received her MBA from Harvard Business School before embarking on long and successful professional affiliations with Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers and First Boston. When Susan retired from the financial sector she used the skills acquired in business to create a"second career" in active board service, principally to the performing arts. Over the years, she lead or served on the executive committees of more than 20 non-profit Boards including New York City Opera, Lincoln Center, MasterVoices, BAM, The School of American Ballet and the Animal Medical Center. In all her professional endeavors Susan's ability to listen, to lead, to stay focused on the "big picture" and to deal comfortably with colleagues and customers alike have served her and her clients well. She brings to her role at Sotheby's an unshakable commitment to client service and transparency, a rigorous analytical approach, strong communication skills and creative problem solving abilities. Since joining Sotheby's in early 2022 Susan has helped clients either buy or sell both large and small properties and in 2024 was one the the office's Top Ten Brokers. She frequently works in partnership with top broker Melinda Nix. Susan lives in New York City and Lenox, Massachusetts with her husband and several beloved cats and dogs. She enjoys the company of friends, travel, opera and the arts. She has always had a passion for residential real estate which she has approached from many angles --as buyer, seller, landlord, builder, tax shelter syndicator and designer! As a long-time New Yorker she has a clear understanding of the nuances of its diverse market and loves to share her perspectives in service of helping clients find their perfect homes.
