Description

The West Coast is situated just an hour’s drive from Cape Town and it is one of the safest places in South Africa to live and tour. With the supply of sufficient, reliable water to this semi-arid region, many of the coastal resorts towns have been able to evolve and flourish. More and more people are discovering this little known area and are experiencing the incredible charm and beauty unique to this western most part of the country. Tourism has boomed, which has triggered a demand for coastal properties which has almost reached the intensity of a gold rush. Lew Geffen Sotheby’s International Realty, West Coast, covers the areas from Yzerfontein to as far as Lamberts Bay and inland from as far as Aurora, Piketberg and down to Darling and Malmesbury. All along the stretch of coastline are quaint and scenic historic towns and fishing villages such Langebaan, Saldanha, Paternoster and Lamberts Bay which have become synonymous with the region. Many of these beautiful coastal towns have featured as a backdrop for TV shows, national and international films and lifestyle magazines. Authentic and unpretentious salt of the earth residents have made this their home and people who have been here will tell you that the light and landscape of the West coast is reminiscent of Greece with the white washed houses dotted along the long white beaches which look like they have been bleached by the sun. It is both unspoilt and undeveloped with most of the country side showing few signs of human activity. The West Coast is known for its abundance of seafood and with an array of restaurants to choose from, eating out- and-about becomes a socially satisfying and delicious excursion. They serve up a delicious array of fresh oysters, mussels, calamari and of course the famous West Coast crayfish. The natural environment of the West Coast, with its lagoons, bays, rivers and mountains, provides excellent opportunities for all the water sports such as windsurfing, kayaking, kite boarding, fishing, sailing, surfing, rubber ducking, hiking and more, with national and world class events being hosted along this beautiful strip of South Africa. When you visit this region be sure to tour a few of the nature reserves in the area – the West Coast National Park, Rondeberg Nature Reserve, Rocherpan Nature Reserve, Bird Island Nature Reserve or Cape Columbine Nature Reserve and visit the fascinating West Coast Fossil Park, with its displays of land and marine fossils dating back millions of years. The West Coast is an experience that you will never forget and a place you will look forward to leaving your footprints in the sand time and time again. When you invest in the West Coast you invest in a lifestyle!
