Maiken Nielsen is a highly accomplished associate broker who brings nearly 20 years of industry experience and a wealth of talent from multiple disciplines to her role. She spent years as a professional decorator and restorer of old houses, yachts and antique furniture, including her work on Pretty Penny, the historic former home of actress Helen Hayes and one of Nyack’s most iconic estates.
Maiken has a deep appreciation for historic and mid-century homes that have a compelling story to tell and welcomes the challenge of bringing out the best qualities of every property she lists, no matter how modest or grand.
She is proficient at forging trusting relationships with clients, whether they are buying or selling a home, and serves as a polished negotiator to deliver successful results. Her background in design and historic preservation allows her to apply her staging skills to every listing, showing clients the amazing visual potential that lives in every home.
Born and raised in Rockland County, New York, Maiken earned a master’s degree in decorative art history and object conservation at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology.
In her free time, Maiken enjoys restoring houses and gardening with her husband with whom she has two grown children.
