The Paarl-Wellington franchise incorporates the areas of Paarl, Wellington and the agricultural areas of Riebeek West and Riebeek Kasteel. Paarl, a mere 40 minutes from Cape Town, lies at the foot of the second largest granite outcrop in the world. It boasts the title of the third oldest town in South Africa. The Afrikaans Language Monument, standing tall on Paarl Mountain, celebrates the birth of the Afrikaans language, and just outside Paarl is Drakenstein Prison, where Nelson Mandela spent his last days of captivity and started his walk to freedom. The Berg River, winding it's way through Paarl, provides life to the many deciduous fruit orchards and vineyards, and also plays host to the annual Berg River canoe marathon, proclaimed to be one of the toughest ultra canoe marathons in the world. The town has a rich heritage of well preserved historic buildings and also a large number of top quality restaurants and wine estates. The town of Wellington, in close proximity to Paarl, and also very accessible to Cape Town International Airport, is rich in cultural, religious and educational history. there are five dramatic and scenic mountain passes nearby and the various wine and brandy routes are an easy day trip from Cape Town. The premises from which the newly acquired Paarl-Wellington franchise operates is a beautiful 120 year old historic building. It is situated on the site of the old historic farm of Nooitverwag, and has recently been restored to it's former glory.
