Richard Sankar, originally from Trinidad, brings a wealth of expertise and a global perspective to the real estate industry. He immigrated to Toronto in 1982 to pursue his education at Toronto Metropolitan University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Management. Following his graduation, Richard embarked on a successful career in the IT industry, holding various roles that honed his skills in client relations and project management.
In 1993, he obtained his Ontario Real Estate Sales License and began working primarily with residential real estate clients in Toronto and Picton, Ontario. His dedication and professionalism quickly established him as a trusted advisor in the market.
In 1997, Richard relocated to Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands, where he became the top-producing agent at Prestigious Properties—a position he held for nearly a decade. His outstanding performance in the real estate sector led him to co-found Tropical Paradise Realty in 2007, a boutique agency focused on providing personalized client services tailored to meet individual needs.
Recognizing the importance of analytical expertise and comprehensive market knowledge in delivering exceptional service, Richard enhanced his education by completing a Master of Science in Real Estate Development. This degree equipped him with the skills necessary to navigate the complexities of the real estate landscape and elevate the level of service he offers to his clients.
In the fall of 2012, Richard merged Tropical Paradise Realty with Turks and Caicos Sotheby’s International Realty (TCSIR), leveraging the global reach and prestige of the Sotheby’s International Realty brand to enhance the services provided to his clients. As a founding member of the Turks and Caicos Real Estate Association, he has played a significant role in shaping the local real estate landscape and currently serves as Treasurer of the board.
Richard is deeply committed to community engagement and philanthropy. His passion for helping others succeed is evident in his dedication to mentoring new agents, sharing valuable insights and experiences gained from over 30 years in the real estate industry. He empowers emerging professionals to reach new heights in their careers that they may have previously thought unattainable. Additionally, Richard actively participates in TCSIR’s charitable outreach, working to improve the quality of education and the lives of children in local schools. Through his leadership and commitment, Richard aims to create lasting positive change within the community.
