Terry McGowan has been a resident of the Monterey Peninsula since 1964, and has the in depth knowledge of a true local. Having lived, gone to school and worked in the communities of Pebble Beach, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel and Carmel Valley, he understands the Monterey Peninsula intimately. Terry has been committed to helping people with their real estate needs since 1991. A Graduate of the California Realtor Institute, he holds the prestigious GRI designation, held by only 3% of California realtors.
As a middle school student, Terry began his work life in his parents' highly service-oriented children's shoe store, the Children's Bootery, a landmark in Monterey for over 27 years. The lessons he learned in his parents' family-owned business was where Terry's dedication to quality service and high ethics began and have continued ever since. Terry's experience in business ownership has brought unique insights to his real estate career, and he strives to personally handle all the details of each transaction in order to assure the highest level of service. With great organizational and communication skills, Terry guides his clients through the maze of home buying or selling with a positive, can-do attitude, educating them on market conditions and real estate realities. Terry and his wife Suzanne are the proud parents of three boys and three girls. Blessed with eight grandchildren...and counting...much of their free time is spent enjoying the little ones. Suzanne is the owner/director of the successful Potrero Canyon School and Camp Carmel programs which have attained a stellar reputation for high quality education and child care throughout their 30 years in business. Her programs are widely recognized as being at the top of the field of early childhood education.
Having coached his own children in basketball, baseball and softball, Terry took over the Carmel High School Girls' Softball program in 1997 and led the Padres to eight consecutive playoff appearances from 1999-2006, while winning three league titles. A passionate volunteer in the coaching arena, Terry currently holds clinics for youth and high school coaches on how to build successful softball programs based on teaching character, values, integrity, commitment and taking pride in all you do.
