Catarina was born and raised in Brazil. She is fluent in English, Portuguese and understands Spanish. She brings the “international” flair for which Sotheby’s is famous. She moved to the U.S. in 2001 with her husband, Flavio, a pediatric dentist, where she pursued her post-Graduate degree from Harvard University in Strategic Management. Inspired by her family’s history in business, she joined Fleet Bank, where she developed personal and mortgage banking skills. This was the genesis of her interest in mortgages and real estate. While her husband was a professor at the University of Florida Dental School, Catarina pursued her Master’s in Real Estate; earning her degree with the highest honors and winning the Capstone Project. The Capstone Project is a competition between teams studying for their Master’s in Real Estate where they must defend their thesis to a panel of the best commercial developers in the State of Florida. These “judges” select the thesis development plan they believe is most financially and environmentally viable; the project they would be willing to invest their money and resources to develop. Catarina’s teams’ project was the winner. It is the current Reynolds Park project in Jacksonville. Post-graduation, Catarina joined Florida Capital Bank in their commercial and personal lending services department.
Choosing Jacksonville as their permanent home in 2010, Catarina’s husband joined Setzer, Cochran, and Soares, P.A. as a pediatric dentist while Catarina began building her real estate business. Catarina and her family take great pride in being active members of the community. Catarina enjoys tennis, boating, attending the Jacksonville Jaguar and Florida Gator football games and visiting the beach. She also has an eye for fashion, design and home staging. Catarina and her husband love raising their two children in Jacksonville, watching them participate in tennis, soccer, dance, and football. Catarina brings her skill at organization, innate as well as groomed while working in the banking and commercial lending arenas, plus her knowledge and passion for real estate, honed during her Master’s Program, to the table for each client. Prior to purchasing First Coast Sotheby's International Realty in 2009, Jeffrey was founder & CEO of several building, design, and development companies that specialized in luxury single family residences throughout Northeast Florida. Mr. Chefan has successfully created and sold over 50 multi-million dollar properties in Aspen, Colorado; Boca Raton, Ponte Vedra Beach, St. Augustine and Jacksonville, Florida. He obtained a florida Certified Building Contractors License in 1987 and a Florida Real Estate License in 1988. Mr. Chefan is currently the managing broker of all four First Coast SIR offices located in N. E. Florida. Jeffrey & Jane Chefan have been married for over 28 years and are blessed to be the parents of two daughters.
