Colleen Hutchinson is a 30-year resident of the Sarasota County area, moving to Venice with her husband, Jeff, in 1981. She is quick to point out that Venice is not only a great place to retire, but an outstanding place to raise three children, with one graduating from Fitchburg State in Massachusetts, another from Lynn University in Boca Raton, and her youngest, a student at Florida State University.
Throughout the years Colleen was very involved with education on a local and state level, serving on one of Governor Lawton Chiles Parent Advisory Boards. Her community involvement has been comprehensive, varied and well respected.
One would think being a transplant from the Chicago area that the Florida winters would be the reason for their decision to move to Sarasota County. On the contrary, the northern winters are still a definite attraction, with many Christmases spent enjoying winter sports in West Yellowstone and Jackson Hole.
