The fifth largest city in France, Nice is the capital of the Alpes Maritimes and is situated on the iconic French Riviera. The town's prestigious atmosphere and international fame began in the 19th century when it became a popular destination among the European aristocracy. Although the city is now much bigger and busier, it still has not lost its elegant charm thanks to its marvellous Belle-Epoque buildings, the Bay of Angels and the famous Promenade des Anglais as well as its carefully renovated centre. The city also boasts many museums including those dedicated to Matisse and Chagall and also the Musée des Beaux-Arts and the Musée d'art moderne et d'art contemporain. In the heart of the city the luxury properties can be found in certain areas such as along the boutique-lined streets of the Carré d'Or, in the grand Place Garibaldi and close to the port. However the most prestigious homes are located outside the city centre in areas such as the residential neighbourhood of Cimiez, located on a nearby hill. From here there are spectacular views across the bay and the apartments, residences and villas are sought-after by the most discerning luxury buyers. Another desirable neighbourhood, possibly the most exclusive in Nice, is Mont Boron where the most extravagant villas and most prestigious homes are found surrounded by lush green gardens and offer the maximum comfort and privacy.
