After 21 years of working in the fast paced world of foreign exchange trading in Toronto and New York, managing the Canadian and Australian currency desks for a multinational brokerage, Alan and his family traded the big city for small town and moved to Fernie, BC., Becoming a licenced realtor in 2004 led to a 20 year career with Re/Max, with Alan then joining the Sotheby’s team in 2024. “The Sotheby’s luxury brand resonated with me, the complete dedication to quality of unrivalled service to our clients, exceptional global network, combined with market leading technology and marketing has been a game changer for my clients. I believe my role as a realtor is to bring both a local and a wide-ranging perspective to understand the complexities of the market to both buyers and sellers. To listen and communicate in a way that relates to client needs and objectives, then successfully facilitating and negotiating to meet those needs. Ensuring the highest level of knowledge, preparedness and comfort, so people feel confident and excited in their decision.
The Kootenay region is not as familiar to many people compared to places like Vancouver, Whistler or the Okanagan. Yet it is one of BC’s most beautiful, with mountains, rivers, lakes and charming towns creating a very special place to live, work and play. It’s full of interesting people, arts and culture, every outdoor activity possible moving at a pace where people wave at their neighbours or take the time to stop and talk. Small towns and medium cities with every type of property, from family neighbourhoods, sprawling ranches, downtown historical homes, resort properties and mountain modern architectural masterpieces.
