Rotterdam, originally a fisherman’s town, today has the largest port in Europe. During the second World War the majority of the city was reconstructed, an important initial step towards becoming the modern metropolis that it is today. Rotterdam is sometimes called ‘Manhattan on the Maas’, because here 173 different nationalities live together in peace. The city is host to many national and international corporations and home to important universities such as Erasmus University. It boasts a great infrastructure with an international airport and offers many tourist attractions such as the International Film Festival and a dazzling nightlife such that it has repeatedly been called the Netherlands’ “City of Events.”
Rotterdam offers beautiful landscapes and numerous skyscrapers, including the tallest residential tower in the Netherlands, the "New Orleans". At 160 meters this tower offers apartments and luxury penthouses and in the ground floor is the "LantarenVenster" theater. If you are looking for an office, "Maastoren" is the perfect place: the tower with a height of 164 meters offers numerous prestigious offices.
Particularly popular is the Scheepvaartskwartier on the Willemskade and Willemsplei, featuring historic buildings with the most expensive apartments in Rotterdam, which offer a beautiful view from the bank of the Maas, the Erasmus Bridge and the Wilhelminapier. In the refined district of Kralingen one finds exclusive historical buildings, offices and luxury villas. Other noteworthy neighborhoods are the luxurious Kop van Zuid Nieuw Crooswijk, Delftshaven and Hillegersberg.
