Omschrijving

On a gentle slope, with an undulating landscape, we come across a hill with extensive olive groves and centenary holm-oaks, completely fenced off, where a white and blue house stands out, with its characteristic features and colours of this region of the Alentejo.

In it we find

- A typically Alentejo hall, separated from the living room by a wall contoured with handmade bricks, granting it a luminosity of its own and a prelude to what will be discovered.

-A living room, the heart of the house, which causes a surprise effect due to its size, the high ceiling of the typical wooden ceilings and the panoramic view of the distant green horizon, leisure areas and swimming pool. This room offers not only a huge fireplace, in accordance with the local characteristics, but also several socializing spaces - either in front of the flames, around a snooker table, a game table or a dining table.

-An office/library in the mezzanine, whose individual sofa invites privacy, providing, however, a view of the green exterior through the various windows of the room.

-A traditional kitchen, enriched by handmade rustic style cabinets, chimney and high ceiling in wood, in accordance with the living room, providing a visual balance. The fitted kitchen, being quite large, allows to enjoy the pleasure of cooking (the worktop covers the whole kitchen) and to share breakfasts during the winter, thus providing a sociable yet functional space;

-A pantry / wine cellar of huge proportions, with extensive shelves, connected to the kitchen, which can be used to place other large appliances.

-Five large bedrooms, equipped with spacious wardrobes built with rustic wood just like the kitchen. One of the bedrooms, a large suite, overlooking the pool, presents an enviable size.

Three bathrooms, with window, complete (including bidet, large massage showers, a urinal), partly covered with smooth tiles carefully hand painted in a traditional factory; all the cupboards have also been built with the rustic wood used in the wardrobes and kitchen.

-Exterior swimming pool that uses the strong blue as a base, typical colour of the region, in its decorative elements, either in the mosaic, in its border or in an adjacent bench. Ample paved space around it, which allows for several areas of conviviality and outdoor relaxation. The pool has a made-to-measure, easy-to-use canvas cover.

-An extensive covered outdoor porch, framed in the Alentejo style, provides a balanced and soothing view over the green horizon, the holm oaks, the lawn, the pool, the jacuzzi, the secluded pergola; in it you can enjoy all the meals that you feel like extending, since from there you can see the children in the pool during the day, contemplate the sunset and enjoy the total silence during the night.

-An American jacuzzi that extends the blue of the sky, creating an effect of continuity. The huge sunset associated with relaxing in the warm water is a daily blessing.

-An outdoor pergola next to a holm oak tree, whose floor covered with pieces of local marble can be used as a space for yoga, meditation, reading and, at night, stargazing.

-Barbecue and wood oven, with a small rustic counter support.

-Attachment / storage with diesel boiler, storage of firewood and pool furniture.

- Garage/workshop/independent studio, with work bench, suitable for storing water bikes, moto4, paddles, motorbikes, bicycles, or cars.
This place can be used as studio for different hobbies, since the exterior of this annex has covered space for a car.

-The property has its own water, through a borehole.

-The water heating in the house and the central heating, controlled inside the house, is done with a diesel boiler, located in the annex.

- Both the property and the garage are connected 24h to Securitas, a surveillance company.

Throughout the day, the high and privileged situation of the house offers a sun exposure that fills the property, distributing a sense of peace and harmony with nature.

The old Monte da Amendonca, family owned by farmers from Avis for over a century, was bought in 1998 by a doctor from Lisbon. He was looking for rest at weekends and holidays and 1h30m from Lisbon made the trip comfortable. In 2000, the house was inaugurated in this old olive grove, which would maintain all the characteristics of the area. The work was carefully monitored, to create a spacious and comfortable family space, but at the same time in accordance with the materials used on site.
Unrivalled in terms of visual scope, beauty and calibre, this property stretches over 4 hectares of rolling countryside, and incorporates 250 century-old olive trees, as well as several holm oaks, grand and sculptural trees present in the Alentejo landscape.
Nearby, the view is drawn to a large water tank for irrigation, which mirrors the sun and further illuminates the prevailing greenery.
For some 20 years, its present owners have been proud stewards of their property, carefully maintaining it and making the olives profitable through local contacts.

Monte da Amendonca is situated 6 Km from Casa Branca and 9 Km from the historical city of Avis, places where you can find primary schools, village shops (several known supermarkets), museums, market, banks, post office and medical offices. Avis already has several local accommodations and a modern hotel, Herdade da Cortesia. The Maranhao Dam is linked to Avis by a cycle path and is well known internationally for water sports and activities such as rowing.
Estremoz, 29 km away is one of the most important cities in Alentejo. Famous for its marble, a 13th century castle, and a historic hilltop Pousada, for its narrow streets and wide squares, churches, various museums, typical pottery workshops part of the World Heritage Site, restaurants with brilliant chefs, agricultural fairs, a comprehensive food/agricultural market in the town square - with an adjacent antique and vintage fair - on Saturdays.
Don't forget Arraiolos, a typical village with narrow streets, known for its handmade carpets. This place provides a stop on the journey, due to the multiple restaurants on offer and the traditional chicken pies, considered the best in the country.
Badajoz, in Spain, a university town with quick access, offers excellent restaurants and commerce.
