Boljun is an ancient town in northeastern Istria in the Municipality of Lupoglav, built next to the still well-preserved medieval castle, with a wide view of the fertile valley of Boljunčica and the Učka mountain massif. From the 15th to the end of the 17th century, this "neither town nor village" was at its peak, it had its own judges and prefects, numerous altars of churches were taken care of by fraternities, Glagolitic was written and taught.
