Description

In one of the side streets of the Via Emilia, in the historic center of the city of Reggio Emilia, a few steps from Piazza Prampolini, stands PALAZZO PARADISI, an elegant residence dating back to the 18th century. The building is arranged on four levels (ground, mezzanine, first and attic) and is spread over an internal surface area of approximately 2000 m2 with a unique planted park of a further 2000 m2, which frames the fascinating residence. The building has a large internal courtyard where it is possible to park multiple vehicles as well as a double garage. Large reception rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, bathrooms are just some of the features that make this building a true jewel to be recovered. The large dimensions of the rooms and windows as well as the view of the dome of St. Peter's Basilica give the building an atmosphere of refined elegance. This period residence is the ideal choice for those wishing to relive history in a modern way or it can be divided into several residential units. PALAZZO PARADISI - It is a courtyard building built around the 18th century as, albeit briefly and indicatively, the map drawn up by Banzoli in 1720 seems to confirm. It was born from the subdivision and consequent transformation of some pre-existences: reorganized according to a setting that refers to the usual typology of the stately building. According to Camuncoli's map, in fact, before its construction there were some small buildings intersected by a system of internal and service alleys (of which some traces still remain) which connected the core of the block with the surrounding streets. The first news regarding its building consistency, already documented according to the current shapes and dimensions in the 1896 land register, dates back to the 18th century. In the Estimo delle Case di Reggio "of 1717, Zanichi Girolamo appears under the parish of S. Pietro; in the "Reports of the Estense Land Registry" of 1786 of the Convent of S. Domenico and in the "New Numbering of the Houses of Reggio" of 1821 of Conte Paradisi assigned the street number 6 in via Gabbi. These Paradisi were a rich and noble family whose prominent exponents include Agostino (1736-1783), poet and economist and Giovanni (1760-1826), man of letters, politician , president of the Senate of the Kingdom of Italy from 1809 to 1812. The current arrangement of the building is probably due to the Paradisi. In the second half of the 19th century the palace was purchased by the illustrious surgeon Giovanni Bezzi (1822 – 1910), - who practiced his profession in Italy, France and Germany -, whose bust is still present in the atrium of the ancient hospital of Modena. PALAZZO PARADISI still belongs to the Bezzi family today.
