Description
La Lamia is a typical Salento farmhouse of imposing and rigorous architecture, whose origins are rooted in the 16th century. It is located in the province of Lecce, on the coast between San Cataldo and Frigole, a stone's throw from the wonderful naturalistic estate of Cesine from which you can admire the splendid sea of the Salento Adriatic. Masseria Lamia develops according to the classic schemes of that period: a wonderful arched atrium which leads to an orderly and suggestive garden. On the right of the garden we can find the Corte della Fabbrica del Pane overlooked by large rooms with vaulted ceilings and arches of Romanesque and Byzantine architecture given that in 1714 the Ottoman invasions were the order of the day! On the left of the garden there is a beautiful piece of land of about 13 hectares which surrounds the entire property. The entire ground floor part of the Masseria has been renovated with the idea of using it for events: the right side of the central body has three large rooms with bathrooms and kitchens, on the left two large reception rooms, all with star-shaped ceilings. Three other large rooms with bathrooms overlook the courtyard of the Fabbrica del Pane. A very old staircase leads to the first floor where we find 3 rooms in need of renovation which directly overlook two large terraces of approximately 600 m2. Finally, the terrace of about 120 square meters from which you can admire the extraordinary migratory flows for the Cesine. The Masseria has a beautiful plot of Leccino olive trees which borders a relaxing and green pine forest.
