In a charming little street paved with centuries-old stones and located a few steps from the main square, in the heart of Rutino, a small and ancient village in the most traditional part of Cilento, lies an authentic architectural gem. This stately stone building, dating back to the late 19th century, is the perfect embodiment of a typical historic Cilento residence. Passing through the solid and elegant entrance door, you enter a hall used as a living room, a room characterised by its original stone flooring and dominated by the presence of an ancient well, a silent witness to the history of the place.
The building, in classic Cilento style, was completely renovated in 2021 and is harmoniously spread over four floors. Its windows and balconies are embellished with antique wrought iron with linear and austere designs, while the interiors are connected by an elegant and comfortable marble staircase, equipped with a tempered iron railing. Large windows embellished with cathedral glass diffuse shades of light that change with every hour of the day, enveloping the entire residence in a magical and fairy-tale atmosphere, guardian of secrets and memories. The essence of Cilento emerges powerfully in every detail, from the finely decorated local stone portal to the perfect preservation of the bright cement tiles on the floor. The spacious and bright rooms offer spectacular views of the Castle of Rocca Cilento and the rooftops of the historic village, while the terraces, protected by lemon pergolas and surrounded by colourful flower beds, invite you to relax. The charm is further accentuated by the local stone walls, which embody the entire history of the village.
On the ground floor, past the elegant entrance hall, is the first flat: a cosy entrance hall leading to a dining room with a fireplace, adjacent to a living room ideal for entertaining guests and friends, a relaxation room also with a fireplace next to the kitchen, a bathroom with shower and a laundry room. This level opens onto a terrace with terracotta flooring, a charming lemon pergola, a woodshed and an outdoor laundry room.
The first floor is dominated by a large and majestic living room with a fireplace, embellished with original purple majolica tiles, an environment that takes you back in time, offering indescribable emotions, and dominated in the centre by an imposing chandelier forged by skilled craftsmen. Three bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom complete this level. Here too, a small terrace opens up between the roofs of the village, offering a view of the green hills and a small outdoor sitting area, the perfect retreat for those seeking peace and tranquillity.
The second floor, the result of a recent renovation, has been designed for hospitality, ideal for travellers curious about the culture and traditions of Cilento. It consists of a living room with kitchenette topped by a white laminated roof, three bedrooms with private bathrooms and a large panoramic terrace with views stretching to the horizon and Rocca Cilento Castle.
Finally, the ground floor leads to the basement, which still retains its original character, via a spiral staircase starting from the kitchen. This level has three openings: two onto the alley behind and the third created for the garage, accessible directly from the historic Via dei Mille. Given its height and large size, this space lends itself beautifully to conversion into a luxurious private spa or wellness centre.
