The Palazzo, formerly "Melloni-Ortalli Laurent", was a residence in the centre of Parma owned by the Melloni family in the early 1800s. Later the property passed to Margherita Morardet, who turned the palace into a meeting place for cultured people and donated large sums to charity. After her death in 1880, the property passed to Ortalli Laurent Valentino, a music lover, and one of his successors sold it in 1917 to Professor Avv. Luigi Lusignani, a university professor, banker, politician and mayor of Parma from 1906 to 1909. He sold the palace in 1919, dividing it among several buyers.
