Description
Overlooking the Gulf of Taormina and its iconic Isola Bella, just a few minutes from the sea and the historic center, Villa Falconara is a one-of-a-kind residence, as its charm lies in its history, which has its roots in the early twentieth century with Ferdinand I of Bourbon, King of the Two Sicilies who appointed Admiral Horatio Nelson Duke of Bronte and Maniace, in Sicily.
In 1867, the heirs of the Nelson family purchased a plot of land and on 15 April 1911, Alec Nelson, great-grandson of the Admiral and fifth Duke of Bronte, began the construction of Villa Falconara. Over the course of its history, the Villa has been the protagonist of various episodes, including in 1925 the Royal King George V and Queen Mary were guests of the Nelsons and in memory of this episode there is still a commemorative plaque today.
The Villa is spread over three levels, for a total of 1050 square meters, and has a garden of 50,000 square meters. which appears as a natural amphitheater on different terraces. The different levels are rich in monumental furnishings, such as a temple dedicated to the God Pan; a Roman tomb; the natural cave of the falcons; Tuscan order columns; various bronze sculptures; a well and a stone fountain; benches; Vicenza stone vases and a sundial.
The Villa consists of 19 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, spread over three levels, all with doors and windows overlooking the park, or one of the numerous terraces, all with sea views.
The property includes a three-storey building located in front of the Villa on the same street with a large plot of land and the possibility of expansion.
