Albaro (Arbâ in Genoese, pronunciation /arba: is a residential neighborhood of 28,207 inhabitants[2] in the municipality of Genoa, included in the VIII Medio Levante Municipality.
With the name of San Francesco d'Albaro it was an autonomous municipality until 1873, when together with five other municipalities of the lower Bisagno valley it was incorporated into the municipality of Genoa. A rural centre, but already home to prestigious patrician residences since the sixteenth century, after its annexation to Genoa it became one of the most elegant residential districts of the city.
