The circus was actually located further south, west of the Theater of Marcellus and parallel to the Tiber. To the southwest was the Portico of Octavia, to the west the Curia Octaviae. Where the church of Santa Maria in Campitelli stands today, there once stood the Temple of Jupiter Stator.
