It communicates through a channel with the Ria Formosa, which separates it from the Island of Faro and gives its name to the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
On the west side it faces the famous Quinta de Ludo, on the east side with another well-known farm called Quinta do Pontal and on the north and south sides with an extensive forest, which constitutes an important hunting reserve and is considered the 'lung' of the city of Faro.
Separating it from the forest, there is a road that largely surrounds it and that, after crossing Quinta do Ludo, connects it to Quinta do Lago, the real darling of the tourist urbanisations of the Algarve and Portugal, frequented and used as a holiday residence by high national and international personalities.
