Description
In the heart of the Chianti hills, immersed in a timeless landscape, the Casamonti property opens up, a place where, at every step, you can breathe the harmony between history and nature.
The main villa, which is spread over two floors and is arranged around a central courtyard, preserves intact the features of the traditional Tuscan farmhouse, made of living stone, brick arches and details that tell centuries of history. Once the operational center of agricultural life, today it tells the passage of time with its solid shapes and ancient walls, while keeping its authentic soul alive. The internal spaces are large, articulated, and the openings to the outside frame glimpses of the surrounding landscape, among vineyards, olive groves and woods.
Next to the main villa is a laboratory dedicated to the production of the prized Cinta Senese, a living testimony to the agricultural vocation of the estate. A little further on, in a private position but harmoniously inserted into the landscape, there is a swimming pool that completes the main residential area, offering a space for relaxation with an open view of the hills.
Next to the main body, not far away but an integral part of the complex, we find a second building also on two levels. Its origins are linked to agricultural activity: it was a stable and barn, but today it only partially retains that function, transforming itself into a valuable architectural element, ready to accommodate new uses. Next to this building there is a second swimming pool, which further enriches the possibility of living outdoors in total privacy.
The history
Casamonti is located in the heart of Chianti, near Castellina, in an area inhabited since the Etruscan era. The first written traces date back to the Middle Ages, when it was owned by the Church and also served as a spiritual refuge for the friars. Over the centuries it has passed to various owners, until it was purchased in 1953 by a family that implemented an agricultural and architectural renovation, maintaining the traditional character intact, expanding vineyards and olive groves, and introducing the breeding of Cinta Senese.
The territory
The property extends over approximately 89 hectares, including approximately 14 hectares of vineyards registered with the Chianti Classico DOCG and IGT Toscana, 6 hectares of olive groves, 40 hectares of arable land and pastures, as well as woods that complete the environmental balance of the place. The land, of marl-clay origin, well exposed and draining, lends itself excellently to the cultivation of vines and olive trees.
