Description

In the heart of Mallorca, on a rustic plot of more than 14.000 m2, just a few minutes from the city and with the Tramuntana mountains as a backdrop, this home is designed in deep connection with the memory of the place and its agricultural past. As a meeting point between the house and the landscape, the project revives an ancient threshing floor —now disappeared— which is reintroduced as an identity element within the domestic landscape.~~With a built area of nearly 250 m², the house is organized into three interconnected volumes on the ground floor. The first, located near the entrance, accommodates the hall, a guest toilet, the utility-pantry with protected access from the parking porch, and a technical room. The second houses the spacious day area —an open space of more than 70 m² integrating living room, dining room, and kitchen— connected southwards to the terrace and swimming pool, and northwards to a shaded, intimate patio. The third volume contains the night area, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en suite), creating a more private and tranquil atmosphere. Between the day and night areas lies a study-library, visually linked to the northern patio.~~The project combines traditional materials —marés stone, lime mortar, wood, and ceramic tiles— with contemporary construction solutions that enhance energy efficiency and comfort. The arrangement of the volumes, cross-ventilation openings, and the use of porches and pergolas encourage natural airflow, seasonal shading, and a fluid connection between indoors and outdoors. The result is a serene and sensitive architecture, deeply rooted in its surroundings, designed to embrace the landscape, the light, and the passage of time.
