VILAR DE MOUROS
The parish of Vilar de Mouros, bounded by the hills of Goios, Pena, Gavea and Crasto, corresponds to the northern arm of the elbow with which the basin of the Coura River ends. Located at the geological convergence of a medium-grained Hercynic granite with silurian schist shining with andalusite crystals and traversed by aplitopegmatitic veins, it was to these geographical and geological conditions that it largely owed its historical destiny.
This parish became famous in 1971 for being the venue for the Vilar de Mouros Festival that takes place every year in the summer, currently with artists of international standing, attracting many visitors to the parish.
