A 1970s architecture, this superb 236 m2 house, built by the iconic 1970s architect Henri Pottier for himself, draws inspiration from the architecture of master Frank Lloyd Wright for its relationship with plants. The house is built in an L-shape around a garden with an aquatic setting, adorned with Japanese-inspired elements allowing the occupants a close relationship with miniaturized nature: pond, rocks, waterfall, shrubs, white pebble wall and sculptures.
This vibrant refuge spans three half-levels and reveals spaces, views, patios, and volumes of exceptional character. The 1970s gave rise to all sorts of creative daring: interior and exterior alignment of brick or bush-hammered concrete walls, recessed spaces, patios with windows overlooking the pond and garden. Each staircase, each dark wood vaulted ceiling with organic lines was designed by the architect's attentive eye.
After a few steps, the first half-level gives access to a living area and a private terrace on the east side bathed in morning light, then a sleeping area with two bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. Upstairs, the L-shape of the architecture around the Japanese pool is found. The bay windows transform into living paintings on the intimate nature. The volume of the living room with its ceiling height of more than 4 m and its surface area of 80 m2 gives a feeling of volume, breathing space and views bathed in light on its aquatic and exotic universe. The white Corian kitchen fits perfectly, respecting the Zen spirit of the place. All the rooms are adorned with sandy Cascais stone for a perfect unity of spaces. The visual diagonals, tirelessly lit by light from the East or West, bring a lot of warmth to this revisited brutalist architecture. The geometrically shaped windows overlook the green patio with its Japanese pond and bring light and nature into the home, typical of these years and of Wright's architecture. The L-shaped plan continues with a master suite with its Italian marble bathroom, always overlooking nature, like a temple of intimacy where the soul can stretch out, dream and listen to the water of the fountain basin.
Finally, on the ground floor, a second suite with shower room, a winter lounge or home cinema, a vaulted wine cellar, a laundry room and a garage complete the property.
Outside, the half-levels of the house are repeated while at the top the 150 m2 green roof terrace is exploited and accessible by a spiral steel staircase.
