Hotel Pico da Vigia is in an estate of about 53 hectares on the island of Terceira in the Azores. It has 5 independent accommodation units that are classified as 4-star Rural Tourism Apartments.
The 5 accommodation units are spread out to ensure they have privacy and they each have a view of the sea. They are each on their own 900 sq m lawn and are equipped with all necessary conveniences and a kitchenette with a wood-fired oven / fireplace. The hotel was designed for simple and tradition living in communion with nature. The houses are almost hidden among the traditional walls and fields. The outside aspect is inspired by the traditional stone barns and the interior is essentially open plan, blending local architectural and cultural details with modern furniture and decor, with the famous architect, Alvaro Siza Vieira, contributing some exclusive pieces The reserved atmosphere, details and simplicity put visitors at immediate ease. People relax and time slows down. The design of this space pays particular attention to comfort because happiness is found in the smaller details. Besides the tourist side, the farm has about 1,000 fruit trees (citrus, apple, pineapple, peach and plum) and a 1,500 sqm greenhouse, free space for agricultural production and more than 5,000 sqm of cultivated Protea flowers.
There is a small archipelago called the Azores, which sits in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean between America and Europe. It has nine islands. All inhabited and all different. Angra do Heroismo on Terceira island, so named because it was the third island of the archipelago to be discovered in the 15th century, was the scene of rich and exciting moments in the history of the world. It has been classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1983. It is here, in one of its rural parishes - Santa Barbara - that you will find the Hotel, at the foot of the Santa Barbara hills, overlooking the sea and surrounded by the green rural environment.
