Description
Blending seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, Casa Terrea unfolds gently across the Alentejo plain in a perfect dialogue between architecture and nature. Designed by Bica Architects and completed in 2019, this residence embodies a contemporary vision of rural living comfortable, spacious, and in complete harmony with its environment.
Inspired by the warm, earthy tones of the Alentejo summers, the 362 m² house is set at the lowest point of the terrain, following its natural slope. Two distinct volumes define the layout: one dedicated to private living with three bedrooms and a kitchen and the other to social life, with generous living and dining areas. These two wings are connected by a corridor that serves as both the main entrance and a passage to the inner courtyard, where a single tree anchors the composition.
Set on a 4,000 m² plot, the exterior features a shaded pergola and a pool shaped like a traditional irrigation tank, extending the living space into the landscape and enhancing the dialogue between built form and nature.
The materials and finishes reflect the region's authenticity: lime-based plaster on the walls, traditional curved roof tiles, and large openings framing wide views over the meadow. Inside, high ceilings and abundant natural light create a sense of spaciousness and tranquility.
More than just a house, Casa Terrea is a poetic interpretation of the Alentejo a retreat where architecture merges with the land and time seems to slow down.
