History of the property: The original Tower probably dates back to the 13th century, is of Arab manufacture, and is considered the main defense of the Islamic medina, as well as the later fortress that was built in what is now known as the Castle of Santa Barbara of this village.
The Tower of this historic property was rebuilt by Gaspar Calatayud, 2nd Baron of Sella, between the years 1530 and 1563 as a symbol of the lordly dominion of these lands and for the defense and custody of the barony and its inhabitants. The Barons of Sella and Agres lived there. After the possession of the Tower by the Barony of Sella, it was transformed into a home and modified to adapt to the needs of the time. Next to it is the old palace of the Barony of Sella, which was attached to it, since the origins of the Tower date back long before the construction of said palace, which dates back to the 17th or 18th centuries.
It is a prismatic Tower that currently consists of a ground floor and three floors. The ground floor and up to the height of the first floor is made of small ashlars, taking advantage of the base of the original Arab Tower. The ashlars are arranged on the external face of it and some of them still retain the stonework marks.
The ground floor has an interior patio and part of it was used as a prison.
