The villa is located in the parish of Reguengo Grande, located in the Council of Lourinha, has a rich history that goes back to prehistoric times, deeply linked to the Portuguese Crown and local legends.
Its occupation of the region dates back to the Neolithic period, with prominent archaeological remains such as four caves used as collective necropolises.
There are also traditional accounts that the nearby Caesarean Plateau served as a camp for Julius Caesar's troops during the Roman invasion.
The name derives from the archaic Portuguese 'regalengo' or 'reguengo', which designated the lands belonging to the King. These lands were leased to farmers in exchange for payments to the Crown. The term 'Grande' was added to distinguish the territory by its size.
In August 1808, the parish suffered directly from the impacts of Napoleonic conflicts, since the famous Battle of Rolica took place on its eastern limit.
Today, Reguengo Grande extends over about 1552 hectares and is widely recognised for the natural beauty of its valleys and orchards. Its main contemporary tourist and ecological highlight is the Cornaga Valley, where the well-known Water Route is located
