Mas Aragó is located in Aiguamúrcia only 5 km from the Cistercian Monastery of Santes Creus in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia. The Masia consists of two large and independent houses, functioning and licensed equestrian installations, an olive grove and a large forest.

It is located in one of the most beautiful places of Catalonia. The Masia occupies a small valley between the Sierra del Mas Alegret and the Sierra del Pla, 350 m above sea level, which allows privileged views over the vineyards and the lower surrounding mountains.

The elderly in the village say that the monks from the Monastery of Santes Creus used to walk to Mas Aragó for their spiritual retreats.
Access

The access to Mas Aragó is made through a small hamlet, following a dirt track between vineyards and mountains. A route that joins the 3 Cistercian monasteries: Poblet, Vallbona de Les Monges and Santes Creus.

Just 800 meters away from this road you find the main entrance. Passed the iron gate, there is a large water deposit of more than 10,000 liters and on the left a circular wooden riding space used to train the horses.

Continuing along the path between olive trees you arrive to a small octagonal building with wooden roof adjoining the raft which used to be a chicken coop and is now a space for children to play.

On the other side are two tracks of 40 x 25 m and 23 x 25 m for horse riding and an old wood-burning bread oven of large capacity that still functions.

Next to the chicken coop there is a large paved area, the old "era" or grain threshing floor, now used as a parking area by the main house, its terraces and barbecue area.

The Country House

The main house of Mas Aragó or "casa pairal” is a building of classical lines which dates from around 1900 and was renovated in 1946 and then again in 2004. It is included in the official register of Masos (Catalan Masias). It has a built surface of 450 sq.m. distributed over 2 floors.

You access the house through the main entrance that leads to a large vestibule. To the left is the living room, with semi-circular arches of old stone, beams of noble wood with wrought iron chandeliers, which are only some of this room's impressive features. The lounge is dominated by a large fireplace and three large windows that frame the countryside, the riding spaces and the vineyards. From the living room you have direct access to the large stone porch, where you can relax at the end of the day and enjoy marvelous sunsets. From here, a few steps down lead to a small wine cellar with an ideal temperature to store the wine.

Returning to the vestibule, on the right you find a spacious fitted kitchen, with large table designed so that all the family and friends can gather in it. The kitchen has a direct access to the front terrace.

Next to the kitchen, there is a dining room which, like the kitchen, was added to the house in 1946, designed in complete harmony with the original structure. In the dining room is a large table for 15 people in front of an authentic stone wall. A wrought iron fireplace gives the room warmth and style.

The original walls of the house, almost one meter wide, keep the house very cool in summer and nice and warm in winter. In the vestibule are also two cloakrooms, a service room and the staircase that leads to the top floor.

On the top floor, a large landing and reading area overlooks the riding areas and the vineyards that surround the property. Here are the sleeping areas that consist of 5 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms with shower. All rooms are spacious, comfortable and have plenty of natural light. All rooms were renovated in 2004.

In front of the house is a tiled terrace and porch with barbecue area, perfect for al fresco dining in the moonlight, as well as for star gazing, thanks to the absence of light pollution.

Currently the main house is a used as a B&B with the relevant licenses in order and an medium occupation, since it is not the owners’ main activity.

In addition to the main house, about 200 mt south, there is a second house with two apartments.
Caretaker’s House

The ground floor of the second house is an apartment of approx 70 sq.m., currently used by the caretakers of the property. This apartment has a kitchen, a family bathroom, a laundry room, three bedrooms and a living room that leads to a small west facing porch.

Guest house

On the upper floor you find a second apartment of about 120 sq.m., renovated in 2014. The access to the apartment is via a comfortable external staircase that leads to a small hall with two fitted closets. A door leads to a spacious living room with an open-plan kitchen and dining room. The kitchen has a terrace, large enough to enjoy summer dinners.
This apartment has four bedrooms, that consist of a master bedroom with en suite bathroom and three smaller rooms that share a family bathroom There are also a guest toilet and a laundry room.

Equestrian Installations

In front of the two houses are the fully licensed equestrian facilities that consist of:

- 3 boxes made of tropical wood (3,5 x 3,5m),
- 7 boxes made of tropical wood (3 x 3m),
- 1 tack room made of tropical wood (3 x 6m),
- 2 paddocks,
- Shower for 2 horses,
- 3 covered paddocks (approximately 40m x 3m),
- 1 ha pasture land right in front of the tracks and the main entrance,
- 1 ha pasture land around both houses on a lower level, bordering the Gaià River.
- Electricity, Water and Gasoil

The Masia has its own natural spring water that comes from a mine in the mountains that flows continuously and fills a cistern that serves the 3 houses with two pumps: one for the main house and another for the 2 apartments. The mine is registered in the Catalan Water agency.

Both houses have mains electricity and water. There is gas-oil fueled central heating in both houses and on all floors. Each house has its gas-oil 1000 l tank.
