The Shoshone Residence, located in Jackson Hole Wyoming, is site-responsive with simple forms that blend with the landscapes of the West, with spectacular views of the Tetons and the surrounding high mountains. The 5280 –square-foot home boasts generous, yet intimate spaces that take full advantage of the natural landscapes and the adjacent conservation lands. The home’s overall plan organizes public and private spaces into two separate structures connected by a bridge-like glass enclosed hallway. An L-shaped single story building contains the garage, entry, powder room, mudroom, den and open concept kitchen, living, dining. A two-story structure has a master suite, three en-suite bedrooms, a sauna, and additional flex space that doubles as an office, yoga studio or game room. The design approach of the house is aimed at maximizing family interaction and encouraging outdoor living. The U–shaped configuration frames a courtyard that acts as the central outdoor gathering space. Large custom windows slide open from the main living space to a bridge of weather-resistant ipe wood that leads to the outdoor eating area. A complementary palette of woods include white oak floors, teak for the master bath, cedar exterior, hemlock on the underside of eaves, ipe for bridges and decks. Blocks of limestone from Montana frame the fireplace and steel-detailing from renowned Company K include thin shelves above the fireplace and entrance, stainless deck railing, and bonderized plates surround the kitchen’s built-in pizza oven. Thoughtful outdoor living spaces surround the home and take into consideration the time of year, the weather, and the sunshine for year-round enjoyment. A central courtyard provides sheltered space for outdoor dining. Hershberger Designs created a vibrant, colorful carpet of native plants extending around the house. Groves of aspen trees form a leafy green canopy over the dining area. Off the West deck lies a cozy fire pit, large custom Diamond Spa, and a fully lined and aerated reflection pond.
