In Avetrana (Taranto), about 8 Km. From the sea of Torre Colimena and about 10 Km. From the splendid sand dunes of Punta Prosciutto di Porto Cesareo (Lecce), lies the Masseria "Li Strazzati", in a place of certain archaeological interest in a rich deposit of bronze axes was found nearby. Currently used as a 5-star Resort, with 22 Suite rooms each equipped with a small and its own SPA since all the bathrooms have a bathtub or shower that also acts as a sauna, hydromassage, Turkish bath, aroma therapy, chromotherapy and foot massage. The farm has a total coverage of 1,326 meters on a land of about 30,000 meters between pine forest, lawn, olive grove and orchard. The detail that immediately catches the eye and that makes each room unique is that all are colored in a different way starting from the furniture made by local artisans, to the curtains. Each room is unique! In the Onciario Land Registry drawn up in 1752 it is listed among the properties that belonged to the "Venerable Colleggio delle Scuolepie della Terra di Casalnovo". Where the name originates from is perhaps attributable to the fact that the Piarist Fathers who once held it, took particular care of the most dispossessed and therefore "beggars" that is, those who wore tattered robes and with the dialect word "strazzati". The period of construction of the farm is to be placed around the early 1600s and was renovated and used as a resort in 2009. On the ridge of the entrance door to the farm is clearly visible the coat of arms of the Piarists, who became owners of the masseria towards the end of the 17th century (1681). In the farm there is also a chapel, beautifully restored, probably built by the Piarist Fathers themselves. Outside the chapel, on the top of the door, there is a carved cross. In the report of Mons. Calaja, respectively of 1754 and 1777, between the rural chapels in the territory of Avetrana there is a chapel located in the Masseria of the Scolopi Fathers, dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul.
