We were in the early days of nationality, in the 12th century, when this locality, endorsed with excellent geographical and natural conditions, intrinsically linked to the Tagus River, it was chosen by people from other areas, fishermen and salineiros, who settled here and rooted, many of them coming from the RIAS GALEGAS and thus was born the 'VILLAGE GALEGA DO RIBATEJO' or, simply 'ALDEIA GALEGA' or 'ALDEGALEGA', having already in the twentieth century, the so-called ALDEGALEGA, now called MONTIJO.
In honor of this past, our development in the beautiful city of Montijo received the name 'RIA GALLEGA'.
