*The house and the surrounding buildings belonged to one of the most important person in the history of Portugal * and in particular the city of Lisbon.
In 1755 the earth shook in Lisbon and 85% of Lisbon was destroyed.
The owner of this house, Sebastiao Jose Carvalho e Melo, Marques de Pombal was the person responsible for the reconstruction of the city of Lisbon.
Especially in this area, downtown Lisbon, they drew a new plan, straight, wide streets and many races, Av da Liberdade, Rossio and Terreiro do Paco. Within a year, Lisbon was new.
Well, the apartment that I present to you today is located in one of the beautiful buildings of Baixa Pombalina, owned by the Marques the Pombal himself, as the brasao on the building proves.
