Culture and traditions
The most famous Portuguese witch is still known today as the 'Witch of Arruda'. And it wasn't just one, but a whole succession of women from the same family who, over the course of several generations, passed on their secret knowledge (and possibly also some possessions) from mothers to daughters. It's not known how far back the first Witch of Arruda goes, but it's thought that she inherited her knowledge from some of the Comendadeiras de Ordem de Santiago who stayed in Arruda dos Vinhos.
