Further away, but close enough, is the National Palace of Ajuda.

This perspective of building is in accordance with the indication inserted in article 54 of the PDM Regulation, in paragraph c) of its point 2), of the IUB (Gross Utilization Index) maximum being 2 m²/m² that would give for the 2,000 meters total of the land an occupation in housing of ± 4,000 sqm.
In the center and in the highest Lisbon zone, was built the Ajuda National Palace. A majestic palace, which was once a 'Royal Shack', housing the Royal Family after the 1755 earthquake which destroyed the city center. This Palace is a national monument, with reconstitution of the royal residence. Next to the royal palace, and overlooking the beautiful Calcada da Ajuda, there is the Botanical Garden, the oldest in Portugal. Here you can discover a 400 year old tree, and you can enjoy a magnificent view with the backdrop of Tagus river, the 25th of April Bridge and the Christ Monument . Then the whole district unfolds around in narrow and tilted streets. A tangle of streets which is worth coming to find, an authentic labyrinth. A quiet neighborhood, a very quiet zone to live, near Tagus river.
