Environment
To access the castle, we leave the highway
and cross the South of Anjou and its magnificent landscapes.
Away from the village, surrounded by its woods, well back from the road, hides this 19th century marvel.
We take a long driveway through a rural and poetic setting, the castle appears on our right,
a monumental staircase welcomes us there.
Structural work and architecture
Near the remains of a first dwelling mentioned in the 15th century, the current castle is built in the 'Renaissance' style.
in the years 1842 to 1908.
Restored in 2012, the whole irresistibly evokes the 19th century of notable rural people.
It is accessed on the north side via a rounded staircase decorated with its balustrades, granite steps with curved nosing.
It is spread over 4 levels:
a basement, 1st and 2nd floor, 3rd floor more reduced in attic, all topped with a bell tower.
Castle built of cut stone from the tuffeau region, rubble, schist... and partially coated, decorated with bricks.
The long-sided roof is made of slate,
topped with a hipped roof, a covered gable, a roof and a polygonal dome.
The whole forms a rectangle flanked at the 4 cardinal corners by elegant and majestic towers! East and west sides, presence of corbels topped by terraces with balconies with balusters.
Varnished red terracotta bricks with medallions representing notable people adorn the facades.
